Second Vendor Event

I had my second vendor event about a week ago. I forgot to take pictures at the actual event but this was at home practicing my set up before I left. I have several new items since my last event. Maybe I should stop creating new product and sell some of what I have:) All in good time!

Items of the Week

This is just a slight twist on my classic taggie blanket-silk ruffle rather than ribbon. Also made this in blue and chocolate brown. So soft I wish I had one my size! $30.
A monogrammed passy clip. Keep that passy from falling on the floor and do it with style! $10.
Monogrammed onesie. These can be customized however you like-name, monogram, or a little of each like pictured above. $15.
Burp clothes fancied up with fashion fabric and ribbon. I have tried several ways of making a burp cloth but my favorite is still sewing onto the traditional Gerber burp clothes. A lot of fun fabrics aren't absorbent. This way you still have half the burp cloth to serve its purpose! $12
Living in Florida, you can never have too many pair of flip flops! These flops are wrapped in ribbon and then topped with a monogrammed button cover. So fun for summer! $15.

Item of the Week

This adorable diaper pouch is perfect for the older child who only needs a diaper and some wipes to be dropped off at the nursery. You can throw it in your purse and do away with the old bulky diaper bag. This would also be perfect if you have multiple children in one diaper bag. This pouch is made with Amy Butlers fun fabric from her LOVE collection. Were I not so impulsive, I would have waited to get a darker thread for the monogram so it would really pop. But I was just so excited with my new creation, I had to see the finished product. Next time, I'll use the lavender for the monogram on this font!

Item of the Week

Get your sweet girls ready for Easter with a monogrammed hair bow. These bows can be made in any color or pattern to match their easter dress. Or just have a few made for everyday use. Small bow $10 Large bow $12.

First Vendor Event

I had my first Sew Thoughtful Vendor event a couple of Saturday's ago. Although, it wasn't a profitable experience, it was great to have a practice run at setting up a table and going through the thought processes of what I need to make everything work.

It also forced me to sew like a mad-woman so that I could have lots of samples of my work. That enabled me to get this blog set up so that it is in place for when I start getting my name out there.

Many thanks to my friend Ashley who basically set up my table. I don't really have a knack for that sort of thing. I think she made it look beautiful!

The Sew Thoughtful Story

A couple of years ago, I discovered that I love to sew. I didn't actually know I knew how. But once I attempted it, much of what I had watched my grandmother do growing up came quickly back to me. I think the desire was fueled by my love of seeing my babies names on everything I could possibly get my hands on. I quickly learned that even the plainest item instantly becomes adorable when your child's name is stitched across it. I started out making simple baby blankets and burp clothes as gifts and slowly moved to making some outfits for Amelia. The gifts I would make would bring me the most joy. As time passed, I started hearing stories of different babies who attached to the little taggie I made for them.

I never really thought about selling them much. At first it was because I didn't want to take something I loved and make it a job, causing me to lose the joy. Then it was because outsourcing all my monogramming made it unrealistic to be able to price the blanket reasonably.

Then one day, I started to think that selling these items may be a way I could "pay off" the cost of my dream embroidery machine.

So here I am. The joy is still with me because I don't actually expect to make money on this venture. It will take me years to recoup the cost of the machine. But in the meantime, I am able to stitch the beloved names of my and all my friends children on all things fabric!
